Downline Meeting

Today was our downline meeting and we had such fun! We took turns sharing different techniques hat we had found this week on line. Bev showed us how to make paper roses, from the new flower punch. I showed how to make the roses from an old cookbook and the new flower punch as demonstrated by Lee Bradford on her blog. And Monta demonstrated a new technique that she came up with this week, using the heart and the Butterfly punch. I will show you a picture of that technique tomorrow, as I forgot to take a picture of it today. Fortunately for us, our snow didn't materialize! Yeah! I have truly enjoyed all of the insidious white stuff that I can stand! Definitely ready for spring here in WV! And we haven't gotten near the snow that my friend further north in WV has gotten. Thanks for stopping by!

Valentine ScrapBook Pages

These are the 2 pages that my Scrapbook class made this week. We had such a good time making them. We used the Big Shot to make the Letters, the scalloped frame, and the embossed hearts that are on the page. We also learned how to use our papercutters to make frames for our pictures. By using the little pointy part of the orange cutting blade, you can use the ruler on your cutter to make any thickness of frame that you want. For this one we used 3/4" frame, and stamped the white layer with the little heart from our I Heart Heart stamp set. The ribbon is the white taffeta ribbon. We used the 1 1/4" Square punch to make the larger square on the right. The smaller square is the 3/4" square punch and the little pink heart in the center of the smaller square is made with our new small heart punch. Next month we are either going to make Spring Pages, or Easter Pages. Whichever theme we don't make in March, we will make in April. Thanks for stopping by!

Blog Tour House and Cards Class

Just wanted to share with you the house and cards that we will be making in class on

Saturday. I used the Cottage Wall Designer Paper as the basis for the house and cards. I combined it with Old Olive, Sahara Sand and Rich Razzleberry card stocks. The stamp set that I used was Happy Moments, one of the free sets that you can receive during Sale-a-bration with a $50 merchandise purchase. I really want to express my appreciation to fellow Remarkable Stamper, Jill Hilliard for designing these cards for our Blog Tour earlier this month! Made my job really easy--all I had to do was cut the cardstock for the class! Thank you Jill! I have spent a good part of the last 2 weeks "watching" the Olympics and stamping! My husband has worked a lot of overtime, so at least I have had something really entertaining to watch while I stamped.

Thanks for stopping by.

Use It Up

Today's card is a blend of old and new. I have been going through my excess stamping supplies and trying to use them up, in one way or another. (I was raised by depression era parent whose motto was, "Use it Up, Wear it Out, Make Do, or Do Without"!) I took a piece of discontinued designer paper which I really liked, and added pretty in pink, and bashful blue to it. Used the new scallop border trim punch to create the scalloped trim edging on the card. I love the look of the flowers made with the Vintage Vogue stamp set that is found in the Occasions Mini Catalog. The background is stamped on Bashful Blue using one of the Itty Bitty Background stamps. I also used markers to obtain the two-toned look on the flowers. I have been using some of my older supplies to make birthday cards to send to my friends. It makes me feel so good to finally use up some of my treasured pieces of Designer paper. I am really bad to hoarde it! Because after all, if I use it up, it will be gone, and then I won't have anymore of it! lol Nevermind that my stamping area is groaning with all the DSP that I have - both old and new! I made calendar covers earlier to use up some of my excess. Turns out it is just like fabric - you can never use it all up! Seems like the more you cut it the more it multiplies! lol

Have a great day and thanks for stopping in.

Think Pink, Think Spring!

Today's card is an adaptation of a very talented stamper. Mine is a much simpler version. I used the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder in the Big Shot to create my background. The border under the flowers is made using the Pinking Hearts Border punch. And the butterflies are made with the new butterflies embossing sizzlet. I used markers to ink directly onto the tulips, thus creating the 2-tones look. This is one of my new favorite cards, made with a long favorite stamp set, Garden Whimsey! Maybe if I think spring long enough, and hard enough, it will actually arrive! Thanks for stopping by!

Birds of a Feather

I thought I would share with you today a picture of the cards and little birdhouse that we made in my "Birds of a Feather" Class that I had earlier this month. I will also be repeating it in March. So if you missed it, you will have another opportunity to share in the fun.

We used the mini milk carton die to make the little 3-D birdhouse (which was featured earlier this month here). I love the Lg Bird on a Branch punch - it is unbelieveably versatile. The stem part of the branch is great to use as stems for flowers, and the birds wing makes a great leaf also! We also used the "Cheep Talk" stamp set. The floers on the card on the far right were made from punching card stock with the "Boho BLossoms" punch. The card on the bottom left features our new "Scallop Tim Border" punch that you can get free during Saleabration with a $50 merchandise purchase. It also features our new "Pinking Hearts Border" punch found in the Occasions Mini catalog.

Thanks for stopping by.

Easter Egg Kit

Just wanted to do a quick share with you today, using our new Easter Egg Kit. These kits aren't just for eggs - although they would be really pretty on eggs too! My upline, Jan Wakeland offered a challenge this week to show what all we could do with the kits. I came up with this very simple card, using the little self-sticking "diamonds" from the kit, and some of the punch outs also. It was such fun.

It is hard for me to move directly from Valentine's Day to Easter! Particularly when we just keep having snow, snow, snow. But even at that, we have been blessed, because although it has come frequently, it hasn't been too deep here in our part of West Virginia. And today when I took the granddaughters to Basketball games, I found out what is worse than snow! MUD! We had temperatures in the low 40s today, and we were all but sunbathing, because it was such a huge change from our low 20s temperatures! Anyway, I couldn't park on the pavement, because I was a little late arriving to the game today. What was merely frozen mud when we went in, was pure and unadultrated mud on the way out! Hopefully they will put gravel down in that part of the parking by next week! Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

New House: Bitty Bird House

This is the 3-D birdhouse we made in the "Birds of a Feather" class. (Yes, despite the snow, we managed to get in one of the 2 classes I had scheduled! WooHoo!) This cute little house is made from our new Milk Carton Die. It uses a small piece of Window Sheet to hold the candy inside, the new heart border trim punch, the new Large bird punch and the 1 1/4" circle punch. This was so easy and so much fun. Can't you just imagine it with a heart on the roof, and give it as Valentines' gifts?

Hope you enjoyed our House tour this week. Don't I work with a great group of truly gifted, talented, and creative ladies??? I am so lucky to be a part of this group of RemARKable stampers, and you can too. Email me and ask me how: HalfwittStamps@aol.com
Thanks for stopping by, and happy stamping!

Open House Tour Coming Soon!

The RAD Open House Tour begins tomorrow - with our first view of the houses, and let me tell you, having seen them, this is one very creative group of ladies! These little houses make great gifts. I will be having a class in March, where we make one of the BASIC houses, and when you take the class, you will be given an idea sheet that shows 30 creative ways to make this house! Hopefully these will provide inspiration for your very own house. Remember, come back tomorrow to see my house, and more importantly to go on to the other members of this group to see lots of other ways to design a house!

Now for today's post! This is the 2-page spread that my scrapbook class did this month. It is very similar to the 2 pages that we made at Jan Wakeland's RAD weekend in December. I love the look of a quilt square on the page at the left. I grew up in a quilting household and so this one really appeals to me. My two little granddaughters really liked the snowman. I just need to get some of the snow pictures on the pages! Remember, come back tomorrow and see what is New in the neighborhood!

Love Birds

Good morning! Just had to share this card with you. I found it while I was blog hopping, and decided to make a couple of changes and make it for my anniversary card to my husband! Hope I haven't lost it by then. lol The base is real red adn the next layer is basic black. The white layer is embossed with an embossing folder. I used the new heart embossing folder to make hte red heart, and the layer on top of it is punched with our large heart punch. It is embossed vellum. the little heart is made with the new heart punch, as are the birds. The beautiful red bow is made from our new red satin ribbon and is topped with a red corduroy button. I truly believe my favorite new punch is the birds punch. In fact, I am doing a class on February 6th, called "Birds of a Feather" and we will be making a mini bird house and 3 Bird cards. I am really looking forward to this class. I will share some of the samples after the class is over. Thanks for stopping by!
